Born in Iran, Rana Javadi is a self-taught photographer. She has been Director of Photo and Pictorial Studies at the Cultural Research Bureau in Tehran, Iran, since 1989. The Cultural Research Bureau is a non-profit research, consulting, and publishing organization. From 1997 to 1999, she served as director and founding member of Akskhaneh Shahr, Iran’s first museum devoted exclusively to photography; since 1999, Javadi has been director and founding member of the editorial board of Aksnameh, a quarterly journal of photography.
