"In this series of photographs, Michal Ronnen Safdie swings us between views of tree trunks and something else, immaterial and unknown, that is hidden in the nature of man, which is actually what she seeks to touch upon, despite her awareness of its ineffability. In the gap between the perishable part of man, as a living being among other living beings in nature, and its inexhaustible counterpart in the regions of the psyche, these photographs emerge as a sort of allegories, and the connection that these allegories weave between the signifier and the signified is open to the most personal interpretations of each viewer."
